Meet Vicente Fuentes, senior marketing major, recently returned from a semester abroad in Viterbo, Italy.

The 23-year-old was born in Colima, Mexico. At the age of 8, he came to the United States.

At an early age, Fuentes developed an interest for the arts. What started off as a doodle later developed itself into a knack for drawing. That same hobby has now transformed itself into a passion for photography.

Fuentes first became intrigued with photography when he took a photography course with Professor Aaron Draper at Chico State, he said. It gave him the skill to finally see his own work come to life with the sound of a camera’s click.

His semester abroad in Italy helped him develop a love for photography, Fuentes said. Although he receives really good critique for his work, he is his own biggest critic.

“People have told me, ‘that’s really good, what a nice picture,’ and I’m happy with my work, but I know I can always do better,” he said.
