The Chico State women’s volleyball team swept Cal State Stanislaus Wednesday in three games.
The Wildcats fired on all cylinders, beating the Warriors on the road (32-30, 25-11, 25-21).
In the first game, the ‘Cats went into extra play as they out lasted the Warriors 32-30. The Wildcats kept its onslaught going in the second game as they won easily, 25-11. Finishing off the Warriors in the third game, the ‘Cats brought out the brooms for the sweep 25-21.
Leading the attack for the Wildcats was senior outside hitter Alex Shurtz who recorded 15 kills and seven digs. Junior middle hitter Lindsay Quigley added on another 14 kills and freshman setter Torey Thompson had a game-high 38 assists.
“Coming in and getting the sweep was great for us as team,” said defensive specialist Emily Duran. “Everyone chipped in and did their job right.”
The ‘Cats are now 11-12 on the season and 8-8 in conference play. The Wildcats next game is Friday at Acker Gym as they face Sonoma State at 7 p.m.
