The Chico State men’s basketball team proved its resilience Saturday, coming back from an 11-point defecit against Sonoma Sate to earn a 79-68 victory.
In the on-goings of the first half, the Wildcats couldn’t buy a basket and were down 18-7 before head coach Greg Clink called a timeout to regroup.
After the timeout, seniors Rashad Parker and Sean Park caught fire to help bring the ‘Cats back into the game. The duo combined for 47 points and helped the Wildcats to a 38-35 lead at halftime.
In the second half the ‘Cats dug in defensively and maintained its high-scoring offense to get a comfy 58-47 lead.
Senior Amir Carraway cleaned up the boards and did the dirty work for the Wildcats, recording 14 points, seven rebounds and two assists.
As the ‘Cats started pulling away, the Sea Wolves only defense was to foul the Wildcats, but that proved not to be the answer as they knocked down 9-10 free throws to wrap up the game 79-68.
The Wildcats will get a chance for redemption against Cal State Stanislaus Dec 14. at Acker Gym, who beat Chico State earlier this season.
