The Chico State men’s basketball team tasted sweet revenge Saturday, routing visitors Cal State Stanislaus, 88-67.
The Wildcats were eager to take care of some unfinished business against the Warriors, the team responsible for handing them their only loss of the season on November 16th.
Wildcats guard Rashad Parker came out swinging early, shooting 5-of-9 from the field (3-of-6 from 3-pt territory) for 15 first-half points. Forward Amir Carraway chipped in 10 points of his own on 3-of-5 shooting to help Chico State establish a comfortable 36-26 lead at halftime.
The shots were falling from beyond the arc for Chico State, who went 11-of-24 from deep on the night.
But Parker decided to save his best
for last, leading all scorers and treating the crowd to a dazzling second-half performance
on his way to a new career high (31 points on 8-of-13 shooting, 10-of-11 from the free throw line, to go along with 4 rebounds and 2 assists).
The win pushes Chico State’s regular season record to 7-1, one of their best
starts through 8 games in several seasons.
The men’s basketball team will try and keep their streak alive as they square
off against California State University, San Bernardino on Friday, January 3rd.
The game begins at 7:30pm.
