Chico State women’s rugby team dominated its final home game of the season Saturday with a 55-27 win against UC Berkeley.
Chico State won in front of a home crowd of about 200 fans and family members who came out for the rugby team’s family day.
The Wildcats played soft on defense early in the game allowing UC Berkeley to score 12 points.
After falling behind, Chico State picked up the offensive pace outscoring UC Berkeley two tries to one for the remainder of the first half.
“We worked well as a team,” senior lock Molly Meadows said. “They had fast players, but we played better as a team than they did.”
As the second half started, the ’Cats picked up where they left off in the first half and pushed the Golden Bears’ defense to adjust.
With the win, Chico State improved its record to 4-1 on the season and cemented a playoff berth.
