Readers, Digest: DIY pumpkin spice latte

The pumpkin spice latte has become a staple fall drink for many, as essential as warm mittens and knitted scarves. For this DIY latte, inspired by Starbucks’ popular drink, I used real pumpkin puree for a fresh taste.

Yield: 1 latte

Total Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • water
  • coffee
  • 1 tablespoon pumpkin puree
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • a dash of pumpkin pie spice

Directions

  1. In a tea kettle, bring water to a boil and make a cup of drip coffee in a tall glass.
  2. Measure 1/3 cup of milk, then heat up in a small saucepan or a microwave.
  3. Add pumpkin puree to the heated milk and stir.
  4. Add the heated milk and pumpkin mixture to the coffee and top with pumpkin pie spice.
