On Tuesday, Senator Ted Cruz dropped out of the presidential race leaving Donald Trump as the presumptive presidential nominee for the Republican Party.

Cruz, a senator from Texas, bowed out of the election citing the mathematical improbability of defeating Trump.

Reince Priebus, chairman of the Republican National Committee, said on Twitter, “Donald Trump will be presumptive GOP nominee, we all need to unite and focus on defeating HillaryClinton.”

As of now, the Clinton and Sanders campaigns have not yet made an official statement regarding Cruz or Trump.

When asked for a reaction toward Trump gaining the presumptive nomination, liberal studies major Megan Brunette said, “what the fuck.”

Fellow liberal studies major Cora Blue said, “I’m still voting democratic regardless who the nominee is.”

Chico State students have until Oct. 24 to register to vote in the presidential election.
