A talking parrot, flying carpet and whimsical genie will enchant the stage of Laxson Auditorium in Storyteller, formerly Playhouse Youth Theatre and Chico Performances’ production of “Aladdin Jr.”
The stage adaptation of the popular Disney film performs at 7:30 p.m. on May 7 and features the talents of 62 actors, ages seven to 16, from across the North State.
Lovable and deplorable characters alike will be brought to life, such as affable street urchin and protagonist Aladdin, played by 12-year-old Spencer Gosselin of Chico Junior High School, and conniving and twisted antagonist Jafar, played by 16-year-old Nicholas
Hoover of Inspire School of Arts and Sciences.
Audiences can look forward to a toe-tapping, magical evening filled with renditions of their favorite scenes and tunes from the fairytale, such as “Arabian Nights,” “A Whole New World,” and “Friend Like Me.”
