Chico is planting 100 new trees this month.

City Council decided to plant these trees because Chico has been lacking 10 percent of its normal number of trees due to tree removals and recent drought condition.

The California Conservation Corps agreed to help the city plant these trees while PG&E funded half of the project.

“We have budgeted for corridor tree improvement which will allow us to continue to plant more trees every year until 2025,” said David Bettencourt, a Street Tree Supervisor for Chico.

Most of the around 3,000 available places for the trees to be planted will be planted in the neighborhood near the Richmond Park area, in west Chico.
