The suffocating grip of technology is striving to be relieved with the National Day of Unplugging.

The event encourages people to sign a pledge agreeing to turn off their phones from sundown on March 4 to sundown on March 5.

The goal, as stated by the National Day of Unplugging website, is to, “connect with the people in your street, neighborhood and city, have an uninterrupted meal or read a book to your child.”

The 24-hour period was first introduced six years ago by a company called Reboot which tries to promote the value of Jewish traditions and create new ways for people to bring them into the modern era.
