Students march in support of faculty strike
Students marched in support of the upcoming faculty strike at 2:20 p.m. on Monday.
Students from MECHA, Students for Quality Education, Chico State Marxists, Chico State Democrats and Men of Honor were among the protesters.
Marcos Serbita, a recent sociology graduate from Chico, was among the protesters. “We’re supporting our faculty; we’re standing in solidarity with our faculty because faculty working conditions are student learning conditions.”
The march started in Trinity Commons, made its way through campus and downtown, and ended back at Trinity Commons.
The strike is set for April 13-15 and 18-19. Students have been encouraged to support the faculty in striking. Serbita added, “It’s apparent that (CSU administration’s) priorities are elsewhere and not with the quality of education that students get.”

Great to see students sticking up for professors, this trend toward bloated management pay at CSU – and Professors getting the short end has got to come to end! Now. Managers spend much of the day attending make work meetings and talking on the phone, the real work of a University done by the Prof’s, great to see MECHA honoring all that great work.
