Chico Police participate in effort to break the ice with young
Local youth have a chance to be recognized by Chico Police for doing something good in the community through a week-long event called “Operation Chill.”
The Chico Police Department is participating in the nationwide event, in which they are given Operation Chill coupons from 7-Eleven stores redeemable for one free small Slurpee. Chico police will distribute the coupons to children or teens “caught in the act of doing something good,” such as practicing bike safety, wearing a helmet, or keeping the community clean.
This is the 22 year 7-Eleven stores have distributed coupons to law enforcement officers all over the nation. The event gives officers a positive reason to interact with youths. It also serves as an icebreaker and opportunity for officers to meet young people in the area.
