A shooting broke out on N. Cedar St. at approximately 9 p.m. earlier tonight.

Chico Police Department cars lined the street while officers questioned a group of people standing in a circle outside on the sidewalk.

It appears the suspects fled from the scene, said Sgt. Chris Nicodemus.

“We don’t know who’s who, so we just want to try to find a victim if somebody’s been shot, get them aid and find out where the suspects are at,” Nicodemus said.

Chico Police were looking for the suspects and headed southbound on W. 4th Avenue towards the Esplanade.

“It’s a little chaotic sometimes because we don’t know what’s going on and we don’t know who’s the good guy, who’s the bad guy,” said Nicodemus.

It’s not known at the moment if there is anyone hurt, he said.

“We don’t know if somebody did some shooting and went through a house and somebody is inside bleeding out,” said Nicodemus.
