Chico Police have responded to three stabbings that happened within 24 hours. Police suspect that two of the incidents involve the same person at the same apartment complex.

The first stabbing happened at approximately 9:19 p.m. on Monday within the 2700 block of White Ave.

In this case the victim tried to confront a juvenile that he believed stole his belongings. The suspect became upset and stabbed the the victim in the abdomen.

The victim fled the scene and was able to transport himself to the hospital. Once the officers obtained probable cause they went back to the scene of the stabbing, arrested the suspect and transported him to Butte Juvenile Hall.

The second stabbing occurred at about 10:10 p.m. on the 700 block of Nord Ave. Monday night when a caller reported a subject in a parking lot suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim was transferred to the local hospital with life threatening injuries.

While Chico Police Detectives were searching the apartment complex for evidence on the stabbing they got another call about a stabbing in the same complex.

Additional officers arrived at the scene, located the second victim and set up a perimeter to close in on the suspect.

The suspect was identified by multiple witnesses and was later found hiding in a shed in the apartment complex not long after. James Jacobs, 33, was arrested for both incidents and taken to Butte County Jail.

Both victims remain in the hospital and are in stable condition. Jacobs has been charged with two counts of attempted homicide.
