Melvin Bui, Reporter

Hi my name is Melvin Bui. I was born and raised in the San Gabriel Valley, also known as the 626 area. I graduated from East Los Angeles College with an ADT in Anthropology and Journalism in December 2020, and transferred to Chico State in January 2021. This is my second semester being a part of The Orion. I am a first generation college student that aims to break social norms in our contemporary society.

I like to write human-interest stories on things that interest me like social justice, climate change, culture and breaking news. I like to write a number of things, so I don’t have a preferred section.  My favorite thing about writing is how wordplay and diction can help illustrate scenarios in the reader’s mind.
