The Chico State women’s volleyball team is still searching for its first win of the 2014 season after losing 25-11, 26-24, 25-20 to Dixie State a day after getting swept against tournament host Seattle Pacific University. The ‘Cats face Western Oregon on Saturday at 1:30 pm in the conclusion of the Seattle Pacific tournament.

A slow start put the ‘Cats in a hole early, but they came roaring back to take a commanding 20-13 lead in the second set. Dixie State, the sixth-ranked team in the West Region last season, went on a huge run to seize the set from the Wildcats, 26-24. The ‘Cats played Dixie State tough after the first set, but it wasn’t enough to match up with the taller and battle tested Red Storm, who had seven players over six feet tall.

Senior middle hitter Lindsay Quigley led Chico State (0-2) with 11 kills and sophomore setter Tory Thompson dished out 28 assists.
