The Wildcats picked up right where they left off as they beat Cal State East Bay, 56-44 on Friday night.

The ‘Cats quickly jumped out to a 19-4 lead midway through the first half and never looked back. They came out of the locker room a little sloppy in the second half, turning the ball over four times, but the Pioneers could not capitalize.

The Wildcats had a clear size advantage and they used it to out-rebound Cal State East Bay, finishing the game with 37 rebounds over the Pioneers’ 29. The ‘Cats also scored 30 points in the paint.

Freshman forward Isaiah Ellis shined once again, leading all Wildcats with 14 points, four rebounds, and two assists. Senior forward Jordan Barton was second in the team with 12 points and eight rebounds.

The leading scorer for the Pioneers was freshman forward Patrick Marr who put up 19 points and nine rebounds.

With the win, the Wildcats extended their winning streak to three, and improved their road record to 8-1. They now hold an 8-3 record in conference play and 11-5 overall.

The team will continue on the road to face Cal State Monterey Bay on Saturday.
