The Chico State women’s soccer team suffered a tough 1-0 overtime loss Sunday at home against Cal Poly Pomona.

The game featured a scoreless first period with four combined shots on goal, including two by Chico State’s Gail Bassett. Goalkeeper Brianna Furner had one save in the period as part of the Wildcats defensive effort.

The second half was more of the same for Chico State. The Wildcats managed to get a few more shots on goal, but couldn’t put anything in the net. Furner had six outstanding saves in the contest and was a major part in keeping the game tied by the end of regulation.

Just minutes into overtime, Cal Poly Pomona scored to break the tie and end the game 1-0.

“We were pretty equal on the field,” Furner said. “We both played pretty hard. They just got lucky at the end.”

The Wildcats fall to 3-2-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
