Butte County is striving to meet state and local emission goals by 2020.

On March 3, the first Climate Action Plan update was released.

The report discusses things like the county’s plans to reduce air pollution from construction sites, upgrade lighting and roofing fixtures and the support of sustainable policies by using clean energy.

Sustainability Task Force chair, Mark Stemen stated in the report, “Phase I actions are to be implemented prior to 2015 and are projected to reduce GHG emissions to 10% below 2005 levels, with the remaining 15% of the 25% goal to be achieved in Phase 2 between the years 2016 and 2020.”

The full report can be found online in section 4.03 of the Board of Supervisors’ agenda from March 8.
