The Chico State women’s golf team was looking to use its recent fifth place finish as a stepping stone to more top five finishes, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case in the Cal State East Bay Tim Tierney Shootout.

After Monday, the ‘Cats were tied for third place thanks to multiple birdies.

Their play took a 180 degree turn on Tuesday. The Wildcats posted a final round of 313, 25-over par, which netted them a total of 619, which was good for seventh place.

Four of the ‘Cats finished in the top 30 with juniors Dani O’Keefe, Bianca Armanini, sophomore Abbey McGrew, and senior Spencer Downey.

Over the two rounds O’Keefe finished with a total score of 151, which was good for eleventh place. McGrew finished three places back of O’Keefe with a final score of 153, which put her in a tie for fourteenth place. Armanini finished tied for 23rd, Downey finished tied for 27th and Sydney Zink finished in 62nd place.

Chico State gets back on the course on March 23-24 as they head to Seaside to participate in the Cal State Monterey Bay Otter Invitational, which takes place at Blackhorse Golf Club.
