Nine people are confirmed dead after a collision Thursday before 6 p.m. involving a tour bus, a semi truck and a white sedan occurred in Orland on Interstate 5.
A tour bus carrying high school seniors from the south Los Angeles area were traveling to Humboldt County, said CHP officer Tracy Hoover.
The seniors were on their way to Humboldt State to tour the campus.
There were 48 people on the bus, Hoover said.
The accident occurred after a semi-truck traveling south clipped the white sedan then crossed over the center divider colliding with the bus, Hoover said.
Several victims have been taken to the Red Cross evacuation center at the Memorial Hall in Orland.
Many suffered contusions and small cuts, Hoover said.
