DIY: Newspaper roses

Newspaper roses are a fun and easy way to give out Valentines without the expense of real roses. Here are seven easy steps to making your own paper flowers.

Materials needed:

  • Old newspaper
  • Hot glue gun
  • Scissors
  • Pencil

Step 1: With an old newspaper, trace out long petal shaped pieces. You will need about 3 different sizes of petals, depending on how big you want your flower.

Step 2: After tracing out your petals, cut them out of the newspaper. Make sure to have at least 6 of each size.

Step 3: Next, curl the edges of each of the paper petals. Curling can be done with a pencil, wrapping the paper around a pencil and holding it for a couple seconds.

Step 4: Start with a smaller petal and roll it into a cone shape and glue it shut. Slowly start to add more petals to this centerpiece.

Step 5: Dab a little hot glue on each petal and continually place them. You should start with the smallest petals and end with the biggest ones.

Step 6: When you are done gluing your petals together, fold the petals outward, causing the flower to open up.

Step 7: Give your homemade paper flower to someone you love.
