Chico State President Paul Zingg underwent heart bypass surgery on Sunday at Enloe Medical Center and is expected to make a full recovery following a period of recuperation, according to campus public affairs staff.
Bypass surgery is performed to unblock arteries in the heart. Doctors use blood vessels from other areas in the body to replace the clogged or damaged arteries, restoring blood flow to the heart.
The chancellor of the California State University system, Timothy White, has been in touch with Chico State about its plans for interim leadership during Zingg’s recovery period.
Anyone who has concerns or question about Zingg’s condition can contact the president’s office at [email protected] or call (530) 898-5201
