Chico State may face competition with new college in Chico

Local college students will have an opportunity to earn a masters or bachelors degree at a new educational institution in Chico.

Columbia College, a private nonprofit institution based out of Columbia, Missouri, opened a Chico facility last month and has hired full-time adviser staff. Students can sign up as early as this week for online classes.

Prior to the establishment, Columbia College administration examined hundreds of cities with potential unmet needs by the according established institutions. Chico was ranked first based on a number of factors.

Tery Donelson, senior director of programs says Chico State may not be a good fit for working adults because there is not as much flexibility.

“We can fill that gap for the city of Chico and students who want a degree,” Donelson said.

Rather than the traditional 16-week sessions, Columbia College will offer 8-week sessions.

In the future, it hopes to partner with Butte College as a pathway for students to start at Butte and earn a bachelor’s from Columbia College.

Chico State is a lousy university–the acceptance rate is a whopping 72%. The acceptance rate at Harvard is only 4%. Chico State is a college for dummies, people who can’t get into a real university. Their School of Education is awash in Cultural Marxism, commie creep professors and staff there are like cockroaches. In addition Chico State is overrun with femiNazis; it’s an anti-male hate-mongering institution. So even an online university like Columbia College would be a boon for Chico.
