After losing the first game of a doubleheader against the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros, Chico State was able to close out the second game with a 9-2 win on April 9.

A dominate hitting performance carried the ‘Cats to their win and was spurred by junior left fielder Cody Snider and senior catcher Cody Bistline.

Snider began the scoring barrage in the third inning by hitting a double and driving in two. Bistline followed soon after in the fourth by hitting a solo home run, giving the Wildcats an early 4-0 lead.

In the eighth inning, Chico State continued its exceptional batting performance with its first run coming off a RBI single by Bistline. Both Snider and Bistline would score and gain an RBI in the inning, bringing their totals to three hits, three RBIs and one run for Snider, and two hits, one RBI and two runs for Bistline.

The Wildcats’ starting pitcher Hunter Haworth was also a key in their success, allowing only three hits in six innings. Haworth had four strikeouts, faced 22 batters and was able to extend his record to 2-0 with the win.

The win increases their overall record to 24-11 and their conference record to 14-9. Chico State will be on the road to take on Cal Poly Pomona starting Saturday, April 16.
