Chico’s night life was cut short for some Halloween carousers as police patrolled the campus, downtown and surrounding neighborhoods last weekend.
Between 6 p.m. and 4 a.m. on Thursday through Saturday, 79 arrests were made by Chico Police, according to Chico Police Department.
A total of 14 arrests were made by University Police Department over Halloween and the following weekend, according to Lt. Corinne Beck of University police.
The most frequent arrest made by Chico Police was for being drunk in public, with 50 offenders being apprehended, according to a Chico Police press release. A total of six arrests were made for driving under the influence.
Of the 79 total arrests made by Chico Police during the late night periods, 12 were Chico State students.
On Halloween night, four Chico State students were arrested for being drunk in public, one for driving under the influence, one for fighting and one for domestic violence, according to the release.
Over the next two nights, an additional four students were arrested for being drunk in public.
