The Chico State men’s basketball team earned its first conference win Dec. 3 against Cal State San Marcos by scoring 40 in each half.

Four members on the Wildcats roster scored 10 or more points in the 80-68 win. Junior forward Isaiah Ellis led the charge with 21 points and eight rebounds and shot a high percentage from the field by making eight of 10 attempts.

Ellis opened the game up with a three-point shot to give Chico State an early lead. The Wildcats made 11 three-pointers and shot 42 percent from behind the arc to earn a large portion of their points.

Ellis was not the only scorer on the court, as junior guard Corey Silverstrom sank seven of 12 shot attempts to contribute 17 points to the Wildcats win. Silverstrom made two shots from behind the arc and was a valuable player in the paint with eight points.

Senior guard Robert Duncan scored 11 points and made two shots from outside on five attempts. Duncan also helped the team with three steals and two assists, leading the team through both defense and as a supporting role.

Along with Duncan, senior forward Michael Bethea Jr. drained two shots from three-point range to score 10. Bethea grabbed four boards and made three shots on five attempts to give the team a boost in the first half.
