The U.S. Department of Labor announced that unemployment rates slightly changed to 4.8 percent for Jan.
According to the Bureau of Labor statistics, 227,000 new jobs have been added in the last month.
The main areas include retail trade, construction and financial services.
“It is a really encouraging time for seniors to be graduating from Chico State with job market growth. We are seeing lots of opportunities for lots of students graduating,” said Megan Odom, director of the Chico State Career Center.
While the statistics were compiled two weeks prior to President Donald Trump taking office, Friday’s report is the first released during his presidency.

Take a look at the unemployment numbers more closely. Most of these jobs are part time, seasonal, and service jobs. Good paying, full time jobs are few and far between.
