Despite the new body cameras being implemented for the Chico Police Department, University Police still doesn’t have a set date to purchase those devices.

According to University Police Chief John Feeney, his department has requested to purchase body cameras from TASER, the company that makes the specialized technology.

“We want to make sure when we invest that it’s going to last and not waste the public’s money,” Feeney said.

The delay is due to a high cost of storing all the video information from those cameras.
