Heisman campaigns have already begun in the college football season. Big name players are at the forefront of this early season. Lamar Jackson, Baker Mayfield and Josh Rosen are starting the season strong with their play.
Lamar Jackson, quarterback of the University of Louisville, has come out strong in making his case to try to be only the second player in NCAA history to win the Heisman twice.
The defending trophy winner, Jackson, has put up over 1,000 yards of offense in his first two games this year. According to ESPN Stats & Info Jackson racked up 525 total yards of offense to go with six touchdowns to lead his team to a 47-35 victory over of North Carolina on Saturday.

Jackson has accounted for over 1,000 yards and eight total touchdowns in his first two games giving him a strong start in the Heisman race.
Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield, is off to a strong start in making his case for winning the Heisman. Mayfield lead the Sooners to a win at Ohio State with three touchdowns and 386 yards passing.
Mayfield has put up two 300 yard passing games and six passing touchdowns in his first two games. He is yet to throw an interception as well. The previous week Mayfield threw for 329 yards and only had one incompletion.

UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen has put himself in the Heisman mix. Rosen lead the Bruins to a huge comeback win in week one against Texas A&M. Down 44-10, the Bruins were able to come back with Rosen throwing four touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
Rosen has the Bruins undefeated through the first two games and has the offense clicking. Week one he threw for 491 yards along with four touchdowns.
The next week Rosen kept the offense rolling by throwing for five touchdowns and 329 yards in their victory against Hawaii. Rosen only missed on three of his passing attempts.
For the season Rosen has accounted for nine passing touchdowns and 820 passing yards to go along with one of the biggest comebacks in college football history.
Quarterbacks are at the front of this young college football season. Winning and putting up big numbers is a must for a successful Heisman campaign. If these quarterbacks continue to build on their strong start, expect to see their names on Heisman ballots at season’s end.
