A protest of the Israel occupation took place on campus, Monday noon.
As a poster sale went on outside the Wildcat Store, just several blocks down the campus the Chico Palestine Action Group was protesting.
All signs were placed next to the new Arts & Humanities building, on the roundabout of Salem.
One member, Emily Alba, was present.
Alba said that she is a member of the Action Group, to raise awareness of the situation in Palestine, where “a great number of people have lost a great portion of their land.” She stated that there is a boycott campaign requested by the Civil Society of the Palestinian people, requesting the help of the international community.
“We’re promoting the boycotting of products made in Israel or that profit from the occupation.”
“For instance, Hewlett Packard actually provides technology for apartheid. They’re making millions, probably billions from the occupation.”
Alba asks that Chico State students…”learn what they can about the oppression of the Palestinian people.. and our government is giving our taxpayer money, $10 million a day, to support the occupation.”
