Chico State encourages philanthropy through online formatting on national day of Giving Tuesday Nov. 28.
The day is intended to unite the entire Wildcat family and support the university communities and programs, according to a press release from public affairs.
Giving Tuesday began at Chico State from 12 a.m. and will last for 24 hours.
According Kate Post, digital communications coordinator of public affairs, fundraising by telephone is a thing of the past dropping nearly 60 percent in the past four years.
Sean Murphy, public affairs coordinator, has been working with Post to take advantage of an online format where they capitalize on the “Aspect of Share-ability” and with that idea people can donate and encourage others to as well through social media.
Many campus organizations have set their goals for the 24 hours of the fund raising campaigns. Overall progress of the university in meeting their goals is totaled at midnight.
