Instructors, alumni receive awards for outstanding teaching
One of the highest awards given by the university was announced for six faculty members Tuesday.
Chosen by the university’s Faculty Recognition and Support Committee, President Gayle E. Hutchinson and cabinet recently surprised the 2017-18 winners with their awards, according to a release from Sean Murphy.
Chico alumni Kasey DeAtley of the College of Agriculture received the award for Outstanding Research Mentor.
Chiara Ferrari of the Department of Media, Arts Design and Technology was honored with the Outstanding Faculty Service award.
The recipient of the Outstanding Professor award was chair of the Department of Civil Engineering Steffen Mehl.
The award for Outstanding Lecturer was given to Chico alumni Alan Bond of the Department of Construction Management.
Jason Nice of the Department of History received the Outstanding Teacher award, and a very surprised Dr. Najm Yousefi of the Department of History received the award for Outstanding Academic Adviser.
“Through their teaching, scholarly and creative activities, service and dedication, recipients of these awards have positively influenced thousands of students and the university committee as a whole,” stated President Hutchinson.
