Associated Students to attend public forums before campus election
Chico State Associated Students election candidates are to make their final cases to voters this weekend.
Most of the A.S. candidates plan on attending two public forums in the next three days. The Upsilon Delta Chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, otherwise known as the Political Science Honor Society, is hosting a caucus of the candidates Saturday from 12 to 3 p.m. in Butte 104.
Pi Sigma Alpha Senior Director of Special Projects Jennifer Kremer stated in an email that taking the time to hear A.S. candidates and endorse some of them is an important process.
“By caucusing and actually discussing the merits of each candidate, you provide an opportunity for yourselves and other students to truly engage in the democratic process,” Kremer wrote to Pi Sigma Alpha members. “Have your voice heard and take part in one of the truest forms of democratic action!”
A.S. government staff members are also hosting a candidate forum on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. in BMU 203. For voters that can’t make this forum, the entire event will be live streamed on A.S.’s website.
