Chico State women’s golf places 6th at GolfWeek Fall Invitational

The Chico State women’s golf team had their best tournament of the season so far at the GolfWeek Fall Invitational and placed sixth out of 12 teams. The team had its best overall team round so far this season on Sunday, combining for a 13-over par 297. As a team, the Wildcats shot a total score of 47-over 899 and were just five strokes behind third place.

Team captain Dani O’Keefe had another great tournament and took third place out of 61 competitors. During the first two rounds, O’Keefe shot 3-over 145 and had her best individual round as a Wildcat shooting 2-under 69, finishing the tournament in third place on Sunday.

Illeana Macdonald, a freshman Wildcat golfer, tied with Taylor Kline of Arkansas Tech for 28th place. Macdonald shot a 2-over par 73 on Sunday and finished the tournament with 15-over 228.

Abbey McGrew started the tournament shooting 6-over par 77 in round one and two on Saturday. McGrew finished strong during the final round ,improving to 4-over par 75 with a final score of 16-over 229 and landed at 30th place.

Spencer Downey had her best round on Saturday during the second round, shooting 1-over par 72 and had a final score of 18-over 231 placing 36th overall. Bianca Armanini shot 6-over 77 during the same round and finished at 43rd place with a score of 22-over 235.

The Wildcats will travel to Rohnert Park on Oct. 20-21 to compete in the Sonoma State NCAA West Regional Preview at the Foxtail Golf Course for their next tournament.
