Ways to get home safe at night

Kristina Martinez
Kristina Martinez

When walking home at night it can be tempting to take the shortcut home. Safety should be a concern for students and community members when walking back home at night.

1. ) Walk in well lit places where people or cars will pass by like a sidewalk near a busy street.

2.) Avoid taking back alleys or bike paths if you can, because it can make you an easier target for people who are out at night with bad intentions. Shortcuts may be convenient but your life is more important than getting home five minutes earlier than usual.

3.) If possible, try to walk home or get a ride from friends.

4.) Keep an eye on your personal belongings.

5.) Have pepper spray easily available.

Safety, in any situation, at any time, should always be something that is always in the back of your mind.
