The Chico State women’s basketball team lost Friday to the Cal State East Bay Pioneers 64-61.

In a nail bitting game, the ‘Cats fell short by a missed free throw from senior point guard Courtney Hamilton.

In the first half the Wildcats played sloppy and had difficulties breaking the Pioneers press and half court zone trap with 14 turnovers. The ‘Cats found themselves down 35-24 at halftime.

The second half, the Wildcats came out pouring three-pointers with the help of junior guard Hannah Womack as she hit a big three at the 4:00 minute mark to close in the game 56-53.

Junior guard Annie Ward brought a big spark to the game off the bench hitting threes and pulling in rebounds with 14 points.

The ‘Cats are now 8-5 on the season and 4-5 in conference play. They host Cal State Monterey Bay Saturday in Acker Gym at 5:30 p.m.
