It was a successful Friday afternoon on the diamond for the Chico State baseball team.

The Wildcats defeated the San Francisco State Gators in both games of the doubleheader.

The ’Cats won the first game 3-0 on the backs of a five-hit combined shutout thrown by Nick Baker and Luke Barker. They got the scoring started in the first inning with a one run single from Tyler Madrid. They would go on to add two more runs to in the sixth inning off of RBI singles from Ryan McClellan and Ruben Padilla.

The ’Cats won the second game 7-0 led behind the bat of Ryan Clark and the pitching of Brad Lohse.

In the nightcap of the doubleheader, Lohse threw his forth-complete game shutout on the season breaking the Wildcats school record, taking him just six starts.

Clark went 6-6 at the plate with an RBI and tied the school record for triples in a game with two.

The Wildcats improved its record to 22-5 overall and 14-4 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association, putting them in sole possession of first place.

The ’Cats will return to the diamond Sunday with the last two games of the series against the Gators.
