The Chico State volleyball team steamrolled Cal State Stanislaus in four sets Tuesday night in Acker gym.

The ‘Cats came out with a strong tempo starting off the first set by scoring the first 10 points to a Warriors 4. The second set was even more commanding for the ‘Cats leading 10-2. Both times forcing the Warriors to use their time outs.

The 201 fans in attendance made the Warriors feel every Wildcat point scored.

The third set, however, was a different story. The Wildcats and the Warriors traded point for point up until the last, which was decided by a Stanislaus kill. 25-23 was the result.

The fourth set looked familiar as the ‘Cats went back to controlling the ball. 25-17 was the final as the Chico took the match.

Chico State’s Ellie Larronde led the charge with 17 kills on the night. Torey Thomson set for 48 assists to multiple Wildcat hitters and Emily Duran continued to climb the ranks of career digs, tallying on 20 more.

The Wildcats improve to 11-11 on the season and 9-9 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Their next stop will be Los Angeles where the ‘Cats will match up against Cal State, L.A. this Friday starting at 7 p.m.
