Chico City Council has decided it will not consider roundabouts on the Esplanade at the intersections of Memorial Way and East First Avenue.

After many public meetings and the formation of “Save the Esplanade” citizen group, the council changed its previous decision.

The council was addressed by 28 members of the public. They explained ideas for the future of the Esplanade.

“Not only are we objecting roundabouts, but we want to create a citizens’ advisory committee to give our input,” said Sandy Miskella, member of “Save the Esplanade” committee.

Along with elimination of roundabouts, the council also decided to halt any further decisions on the issue until 2017.
