Chico State will spotlight its first-generation students in a special Trailblazer Symposium Thursday and Friday.
The second annual symposium is to be held from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Thursday, and 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Friday.
Organized by the First-Gen Faculty and Staff Association and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, the conference will offer discussions, panels, and special sessions around campus.
According to a press release, more than half of the campus’s students identify as being first-generation. The symposium’s goal is to facilitate discussion around student success and build community.
“Our goal was to highlight the strength and resilience of this population on campus and also come together as a community to share best practices,” said Tasha Alexander, project director in Student Support Services and member of the First-Gen Faculty and Staff Association, in the release.
