A man with a firearm is still on the run after attempting to rob Kindcare Pharmacy on Walnut St. Tuesday morning.

According to police, the suspect walked into the pharmacy around 10 a.m. pretending to be a customer.

“He requested a certain type of controlled medication, and when he was told that the pharmacy didn’t have that kind of medication, things turned south from there and he began making demands,” Chico Police Officer Kevin Hass confirmed.

After being denied any medications by the pharmacy owner, the suspect brandished a firearm and threatened him, leading to a physical altercation between the two. The suspect did not utilize his firearm at any point during the fight.

The suspect managed to run away before authorities arrived at the scene. The pharmacy owner walked away from the altercation with scratches and bruises but wasn’t seriously injured.

Police are still attempting to identify the suspect and are reviewing surveillance footage from the scene, Officer Hass confirmed. Anyone with information regarding the suspect is encouraged to contact Chico Police at (530) 897-4900.
