A Chico State student and U.S. Army veteran died Saturday, according to a campus-wide email. No cause of death was given.
Jimmy Yang served in the U.S. military from 2004 to 2008 and transferred to Chico State in 2009. He was a computer science and business administration major.
He was an active member of the Chico State Student Veterans Organization, according to the email.
“Jimmy was a very soft-spoken and kind gentleman, always respectful and cordial, who never a bad (stet) word about anyone or anything,” said Veterans Affairs Coordinator Larry Langwell in the announcement.
Students can visit the Counseling and Wellness Center for free urgent walk-in services. The center is located in the Student Services Building in room 430. it is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Students can also call 898-6345.
The university flag will be lowered Wednesday in Yang’s memory.
