’Cats win streak snapped to Golden Eagles

The Chico State women’s basketball team’s seven game winning streak was snapped Friday night to Cal State L.A after losing 83-71.

In the first half, the ‘Cats came out timid as the Golden Eagles established being the aggressors going on a 25-13 run in the final 12 minutes to have a lead 42-30 at halftime.

In the second half, the Wildcats battled back hitting back to back threes to bring the game closer 50-45. But then, the Golden Eagles responded with a 15-5 run to close out the ‘Cats 83-71.

The Wildcats shot 36 percent from the field, despite hitting a season high 11 three pointers. Junior guard Hannah Womack lead the Cat attack putting up 21 points four assists and three rebounds. Senior guard Jazmine Miller added 13 points five assists and three rebounds.

The Wildcats are now 15-6 on the season and 11-6 in conference play. The ‘Cats next game is Saturday at Cal State Dominguez Hills at 5:30 p.m.
