A Chico State student was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a car on Warner Street Street in front of the O’Connell Technology Center.

The incident occurred around 12:15 p.m..

The student was riding a long-board on Warner Street near West Second Street when she was hit by a black Volkswagen Beetle, said said Leslie Velasquez, an 18-year-old pre-nursing major who witnessed the accident.

The driver, as well as bystanders immediately rushed around to help, while others called the police.

University Police arrived within minutes and fire and medical personnel arrived shortly after.

The student had scratches on her head and down her legs, and possibly a dislocated shoulder,

“She was able to say her name and everything though.” Velazquez said.

The Volkswagen’s windshield was cracked on its passenger side.

The student was transferred to Enloe Medical Center. Her condition and name has not been released.
