The Chico State women’s basketball team defeated the Cal State Monterey Bay Otters Saturday 62-48.

In the first half, the Wildcats stingy defense held the Otters to just 8-30 from the field at a whopping low 26% shooting. The ‘Cats also had a duo scoring attack from junior guard Hannah Womack and senior Analise Riezbos scoring 10 points a piece. This early productivity lead the Wildcats up 28-18 at halftime.

The ‘Cats kept their aggressive mentality into the second half and switched to a full court 2-2-1 trap which gave the Otters even more trouble. Womack kept her nice touch and ended the game as the leading scorer with 19 points, three rebounds and three assists. Also, senior guard Jazmine Miller caught on fire and respectively contributed 15 points and six rebounds.

With a full effort from the Wildcats they closed out the game comfortably 62-48.

The ‘Cats are now 10-5 on the season and 5-5 in conference play. The Wildcats next game is Jan. 23 at Cal Poly Pomona.
