Liberty Cab out of business

Liberty Cab Company closed down operations in the end of April due to the lack of qualified employees.

The ride-share service lost over 13 employees in the past two months and struggled to fill 40 job positions overall.

Although Uber and Lyft are available for Chico State students, Liberty Cab has maintained a high number of customers throughout their existence.

Some feel indifferent about the situation, like fourth-year student Austin St. Cyr, who is majoring in exercise physiology.

“I guess since there are so many cab companies in Chico it’s not that big of a deal, but it’s unfortunate,” St. Cyr said.

From what I’ve heard from drivers, they were charging too much taxi lease for the drivers to make a living. Uber and Left had taken too big a bite out of the market.
