The Chico State baseball team was eliminated from the NCAA Division II College World Series with a 14-6 loss to Tampa Monday in Cary, North Carolina.

Tampa had 19 hits on the day, a season-high for Chico State pitchers. The ‘Cats also committed four errors in the contest.

At one point, Chico State was down 8-2 to Tampa. The Wildcats did cut the lead to four at 10-6, but the Tampa offense came back with some insurance runs.

Chico State finished its season 43-15. The Wildcats won their ninth West Region title in 18 seasons, and advanced to the NCAA College World Series. They fell in the opener to Lander on Saturday, and came up short to the top-ranked Spartans on Monday.
