The Office of Faculty Affairs announced Wednesday that it will be known as the Office of Academic Personnel.
The name change will go into effect beginning March 1.
“It more accurately describes what we do here,” said Interim Associate Vice Provost of Faculty Affairs Evanne O’Donnell, and comes after years of internal talks within the college.
O’Donnell said she started her current position in 2013. The issue of the ambiguity of the office title came up soon after that.
The office, which oversees many support functions for those employed by the college―including recruitment, advancement of faculty, handling leave requests and sabbaticals, and more―will see no change in operations.
The only real changes will be to “letterheads, forms and business cards,” said O’Donnell.
