The Oroville California Highway Patrol have confirmed that a man was killed in a hit-and-run in Biggs Saturday night.

The fatal hit-and-run occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Riceton Highway, north of Afton Road, and was called in by a witness.

According to Oroville police, the victim was identified by the Butte County Deputy Coroner as 23-year-old Richard Dwain Benish of Durham, CA. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

While no evidence was found at the scene, a preliminary investigation revealed a vehicle fled the scene before authorities arrived.

An investigation into the crime is ongoing, with authorities asking the public for anything they may know about this case. If you have any information that may be useful, please call the Oroville CHP at (530) 538-2700.
